WINTER GARDEN, Fla. - The Saint Mary's softball team lost a 4-2 game to Saint Joseph's (Maine) to conclude their spring break trip in the Sunshine State.

The Belles took the lead in the top of the first inning. Jamie Young beat out a bunt single before stealing second and moving up to third on the same stolen base attempt. She then scored on a dropped pop up by the Monks' second baseman to give Saint Mary's the 1-0 advantage.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Belles until the top of the fourth. Kayla Chapman started the offense with a one-out single to center field. Kayla Raymer drew a walk, and Megan Knudsen came in to pinch run for Chapman. Another walk loaded the bases for the Belles, and Sarah Callis drove in Knudsen with a sacrifice fly to center field. The Belles, however, were unable to keep the scoring going in the inning as Saint Mary's took the 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth.

The Monks erased that lead in their at bats in the same inning. Saint Joseph's scored four runs on five hits - all singles - to go up 4-2 through four complete.

Cassie Young dropped a two-out single into center field in the top of the fifth, but the sophomore was the last hitter to safely reach base for the Belles as Saint Mary's had the final seven batters retired in order.

Jamie Young had a single and scored a run. Makenzie Duncan, Cassie Young, Kayla Chapman, and Kelsey Richards each picked up a hit in the loss.

Sarah Burke threw the opening three innings and struck out one while having a no decision in the circle. Mary Green suffered the loss after surrendering a pair of runs in one inning of work. Morgan Raymer closed out the final two innings and struck out one while not allowing any hits.
