FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary's softball player Cassie Young was named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week for games played through March 12.
A junior outfielder from South Bend, Indiana, she posted a 6-for-8 (.750 batting average) performance in the Belles first two games of the year as Saint Mary's took down #21 ranked Manhattanville 5-0 before defeating Western Connecticut 9-3. Young had a double, a home run, three RBI, and scored four runs with a 1.250 slugging percentage in the two wins combined.
It is the first time this season and the third time during her career she has been selected as the MIAA Position Player of the Week.
