South Bend Chamber Singers Present Music About Music

The South Bend Chamber Singers closes out its 38th season with Music About Music

Joining the event is special guest Viva Voce, Penn High School's fantastic choir, under the direction of Andrew Nemeth.

So much wonderful choral music has been written about music and singing! Our music director, Nancy Menk, has been collecting a folder of these pieces for many years in anticipation of a program like this. The concert features a new work by American composer Craig Carnahan entitled "Sappho’s Raft", with flute and harp, several works dedicated to St. Cecilia, the patron saint of music, and more works with texts about music by poets Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Walter de la Mare, Walt Whitman, Arthur O’Shaughnessy, Wendell Berry, Ursula Vaughan Williams, and others, set to music by a wide variety of composers.
