Belles Finish Ninth at Calvin Winter Invitational

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saint Mary's swim team finished in ninth place at the highly-competitive Calvin Winter Invitational on Saturday.

Division II power Grand Valley State University won the event while fellow D-II members University of Indianapolis and Northern Michigan finished in second and third, respectively.

Individually, Audrey Dalrymple had yet another big day for the Belles. The senior was four-tenths of a second away from an NCAA B cut time (2:24.39) with a 2:24.79 in the morning preliminary of the 200 breaststroke. She then finished eighth in the championship final of the event in the evening with a 2:25.50. She also earned the team points with a 15th place finish in the 200 individual medley. Kristyn Gerbeth earned a berth in the consolation final in the 100 fly and finished 16th for the Belles in a time of 1:05.03. Genevieve Spittler finished 24th in the bonus consolation in the same event with a time of 1:10.06. Megan Price was also a bonus consolation participant in the 500 free, where she finished 19th in 5:24.19.

The Belles' 400 relay of Katie Donovan, Price, Gerbeth, and Anna Nolan had the best relay finish for Saint Mary's with a 17th place showing in 3:50.70. The top-finishing 200 medley relay group of Nolan, Dalrymple, Gerbeth, and Donovan finished in 20th place with a 1:59.18.

The Belles will be off until their winter training trip to Arizona at the end of December.
