Belles Defeat Yellow Jackets

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's swim team defeated visiting Defiance in a dual meet by a 152-50 score on Saturday afternoon.

The win marks the first win since defeating conference foe Alma last season.

The Belles claimed first place in 12 of 14 swim events unofficially as Saint Mary's had exhibition times in the 200 individual medley despite finishing the race first. Leading the way on the day were senior co-captains Megan Price, Katie Donovan, and Audrey Dalrymple. Price was a winner in the 1000 free and the 500 free while also swimming the first leg of the A squad in the 200 free relay. Donovan won the 200 free and the 100 free while also touching the wall first in the 200 individual medley. She was the anchor swimmer on the winning 200 free relay in the final event of the day as well. Dalrymple, meanwhile, took first place in the 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, and 100 butterfly while swimming the breaststroke portion of the 200 medley relay.

Anna Nolan (50 free, 200 free relay), Genevieve Spittler (200 butterfly), Kristyn Gerbeth (200 medley relay, 200 free relay), Sarah Thompson (200 medley relay) all helped contribute to the other wins against the Yellow Jackets for the Belles.

Saint Mary's will travel to Wabash College for a two-day invitational next weekend, November 18-19.
