Belles in Ninth at Calvin Invite

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saint Mary's swimming and diving team is in ninth place after two events at the highly competitive Calvin Winter Invitational.

NCAA Division II programs University of Indianapolis, Northern Michigan, and Grand Valley State are in first, second, and third, respectively after Thursday's events.

The Belles' 800 freestyle relay of Ellie Watson, Sarah Thompson, Megan Knobloch, and Carolyn Neville finished 20th in the event with a time of 8:20.51. Liz Palmer and Paige Handy both competed in the 1,650 freestyle. Palmer was 29th with a 19:55.94, and Handy finished 31st in 20:29.60.

Day two of the three day invitational begins at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow at the Venema Aquatic Center at Calvin College.
