Belles Prevail Against Thunder

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team responded after a tough loss on Friday night with a 6-3 victory against in-state rival Trine on Saturday.

The Belles staked claim to the lead early with wins in all three doubles flights. Shannon Elliott and Kayle Sexton earned an 8-5 win at the two doubles flight while the duo of Mary Catherine Faller and Audrey Kiefer and the pair of Margaret Boden and Jackie Kjolhede both earned 8-6 wins at the one and three doubles matches.

Sexton, Kjolhede, and Boden all went on to win their singles matches to secure the win for the Belles. Sexton earned a 6-0, 6-3 in her number two singles competition. Kjolhede used a come-from-behind effort to take a 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-3) win at five singles. Boden was a 6-2, 6-4 winner at six singles for Saint Mary's.

The Belles (8-6, 2-2 MIAA) will be off from competition until after the Easter holiday when they host cross-town rival Bethel on Thursday, April 12 for a 4:00 p.m. match against the Pilots.
