Belles Sink Pilots

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team took a 7-2 win over cross-town rival Bethel at the Eck Tennis Pavilion on a rainy Thursday evening.

The Belles battled their way to the 2-1 advantage after doubles play had concluded. Margaret Faller and Shannon Elliott won an 8-2 match at number three doubles while Mary Catherine Faller and Kayle Sexton edged out their Pilot counterparts at number one doubles by an 8-6 score.

Margaret Faller went on to win 6-1, 6-0 at number six singles. Kayle Sexton won her opening set 6-3 and then shut out her opponent in the second set with a 6-0 win at number two singles. Audrey Kiefer and Jackie Kjolhede had matching 7-5, 6-2 wins at four and five singles, respectively. Mary Catherine Faller battled her way back to a win with a 1-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-4) victory at number one singles.

The Belles (7-5) return to conference play on Saturday when they travel to East Lansing to take on Alma in a 1:00 p.m. MIAA match.
