Belles Win MIAA Opener Against Thunder

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team picked up their second win in as many days with a 6-3 victory over Trine in both teams' conference opener of the season.

The Belles took wins in two of the three doubles flights and four of the six singles flights.

Mary Catherine Faller and Kayle Sexton earned a 8-4 win at the number one doubles flight. Margaret Faller and Shannon Elliott had a matching 8-4 win at number three doubles to give the Belles the early lead.

Jackie Kjolhede lost just three games in a straight-set win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at the number five singles flight. Audrey Kiefer added a straight-set win by 6-1, 6-3 scores at number six singles. Kayle Sexton edged her Trine counterpart in a 6-4, 6-4 final at number two singles. Margaret Faller battled her way to a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win at number three singles for Saint Mary's.

The Belles (4-4, 1-0 MIAA) continue their stretch of home matches when they host Judson on Wednesday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m.
