Belles Conquer Titans

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Saint Mary's tennis team rounded out their spring break trip to Florida with a 7-2 win over Illinois Wesleyan on Thursday afternoon.

The Belles set the tone early with a pair of doubles wins. Shannon Elliott and Audrey Kiefer took an 8-1 win at two doubles, and Kaity Venters and Andrea Fetters matched that 8-1 decision at three doubles to give Saint Mary's the 2-1 lead through the first matches of the day.

Saint Mary's made short work of securing the win in singles play. Shannon Elliott and Andrea Fetters had matching 6-0, 6-0 wins at four and five singles, respectively. Audrey Kiefer dropped just a single game on her way to a 6-1, 6-0 win at six singles. Kayle Sexton claimed a straight-set victory with 6-4, 6-0 scores at number two singles. Jackie Kjolhede added a come-from-behind victory at two singles by 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (10-7) scores for the Belles.

Saint Mary's (4-3) returns to action on Sunday, March 23 when they travel to Olivet for their MIAA opener at 1:00 p.m.
