Belles Bounce Bulldogs

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team set the tone in doubles before picking up a 6-3 conference win at Adrian on Wednesday evening.

The Belles took all three doubles flights to post an early lead against the Bulldogs. Margaret Faller and Maddie Minaudo won an 8-2 match at two doubles. Andrea Fetters and Kaity Venters claimed an 8-5 decision at three doubles, and Sam Setterblad and Monica Davy matched that score with an 8-5 victory at one doubles to give Saint Mary's the sweep heading into singles play.

Monica Davy cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at two singles while Maddie Minaudo dropped just two games in a 6-0, 6-2 decision at five singles to clinch the win. Margaret Faller took her opening set by a 6-0 score before closing out the win with a 6-4 second set at four singles. Sam Setterblad had a 6-0, 6-4 setback at three singles. Kaity Venters was on the short side of a 6-3, 6-4 final at six singles. Andrea Fetters was edged out 7-5, 6-2 at one singles.

Elizabeth Preister picked up an 8-1 exhibition win at seven singles on the night.

The Belles (12-5, 3-2 MIAA) return home to host Albion on Saturday, April 23 starting at 1:00 p.m. The two members of the senior class - Margaret Faller and Andrea Fetters - will be recognized prior to the start of the match.
