Belles Power Past Cardinals

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team lost just ten total games on their way to a 9-0 victory over Concordia University (Mich.) on Wednesday evening.

Margaret Faller and Maddie Minaudo were the first pair of the court after dominating in an 8-0 win at two doubles. Kaity Venters and Abbi Fleming were not far behind with an 8-1 victory at three doubles. After dropping the opening game of their match, Monica Davy and Sam Setterblad rattled off seven consecutive game wins before taking an 8-2 decision at one doubles for the Belles.

Singles play was all Saint Mary's from start to finish. A slight pop up shower resulted in the match being moved inside to the Eck Tennis Pavilion midway through the singles competitions. Elizabeth Preister was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at four singles shortly before Monica Davy clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-0 decision at two singles. Sam Setterblad did not miss a beat in a 6-0, 6-0 win at three singles. Andrea Fetters outlasted her opponent in several points on her way to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at one singles. Alain Anderson ended her match with an exclamation point of a forehand winner for a 6-1, 6-0 final at five singles. Kaelin Schillinger completed the 9-0 team victory with a 6-2, 6-0 six singles win for the Belles.

Saint Mary's (7-3) returns to action on Thursday, March 31 when they host cross-town rival Bethel starting at 4:00 p.m.
