ITA Recognizes Belles Team, Student-Athletes

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Saint Mary's tennis team and eight Belles student-athletes were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) with All-Academic honors for the 2016-17 academic year.

The team was one of more than 130 NCAA Division III women's programs to be named as an ITA All-Academic Team. The Belles had a cumulative GPA above a 3.50 for the past academic year to well surpass the ITA's standard of a 3.20 or above. The honor comes less than a month after the team earned the MIAA Team GPA Award for their performance in the classroom.

Eight student-athletes on the squad were further recognized by the ITA as Scholar-Athletes. Monica Davy, Meaghan Flynn, Kelsey Kopf, Maddie Minaudo, Bailey Oppman, Elizabeth Preister, Sam Setterblad, and Kaity Venters were all picked up the individual honor. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
