Belles Shut Down Bulldogs

  • The Belles took one and two doubles in tiebreakers.
  • Saint Mary's won all six singles flights in straight sets.
  • Kesley Kopf had strong wins in both doubles and singles.

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Saint Mary's tennis team battled their way to a 9-0 win over Adrian on Saturday afternoon.

Lily Brandt and Kelsey Kopf began the day with an 8-4 win at three doubles. Lilly Chamberlin and Maddie Minaudo needed a tiebreaker before prevailing 9-8 (7-3) at two doubles. Megan and Monica Davy also went to a tiebreaker at one doubles as the duo claimed a 9-8 (7-2) final at one doubles to put the Belles ahead 3-0.

Elizabeth Preister was the first one off in singles play as the junior collected a 6-3, 6-1 win at the six flight. Maddie Minaudo clinched the team win with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at four singles. Monica Davy took a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set win at one singles. With the match decided, Kelsey Kopf was an 8-0 pro-set winner at three singles. Megan Davy's match had started before the completion of Minaudo's match, and the freshman earned a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the two singles flight. Lilly Chamberlin completed the 9-0 team victory with an 8-4 decision at five singles.

The Belles (8-4, 2-0 MIAA) return home to host Olivet on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
