Belles Sink Pilots

  • The Belles dropped just five games at doubles on the way to a quick 3-0 lead.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team battled through the wind to take an 8-1 win over cross-town foe Bethel on Monday evening.

Kelsey Kopf and Elizabeth Preister were the first pair off the court as the duo claimed an 8-1 win at three doubles. Lilly Chamberlin and Maddie Minaudo followed suit with an 8-1 victory at three doubles. Megan and Monica Davy were 8-3 victors at one doubles to put the Belles up 3-0 early.

Elizabeth Preister took little time to win 6-0, 6-0 at six singles, and Maddie Minaudo clinched the match victory a short while later with a 6-0, 6-0 decision at four singles. Kelsey Kopf matched Preister and Minaudo by not dropping a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win at three singles. Lilly Chamberlin prevailed in a 6-3, 6-1 final at five singles. Megan Davy edged out her counterpart for a 6-3, 6-4 win at two singles. Monica Davy battled to the end in a 7-5, 6-3 setback at one singles.

In exhibition play, Nicole Becker took an 8-1 win at seven singles.

The Belles (6-4) begin conference competition on Wednesday, March 28 when they travel to Trine for a 4:00 p.m. MIAA match.
