Belles Compete in Ohio at ITA Event

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Saint Mary's team opened up their fall season on Friday at day one of the ITA Central Regional Tournament, which is being hosted by Oberlin College.

Two Belles pairings competed in the ITA Tournament doubles competition. Maddie Minaudo and Elizabeth Preister lost an 8-1 match to the fifth-seeded duo of Kanagasegar and Paolucci from Case Western Reserve in the opening round. The pair went on to take an 8-4 win over John Carroll's pair of Stroyne and Campagna to advance in the back draw doubles bracket. Monica Davy and Megan Davy fell by an 8-1 score to third-seeded Handa and Rudin from University of Chicago. The duo then claimed a close 8-6 win against Gurvich and Beier from Case Western to stay alive in the back draw bracket. Both pairs will compete on Saturday.

In a singles competition beyond the official ITA tournament, several Belles competed against a variety of competitors in the Oberlin Open. Megan Davy suffered a 6-3, 7-6 loss to Madalyn Winarski from Kalamazoo. Lilly Chamberlin fell 6-1, 6-0 to John Carroll's Skye Harwood. Monica Davy prevailed in a 6-3, 6-2 final over Elmhurst's Chiara Gaudio. Kelsey Kopf came up just short in a 7-6, 7-3 setback against Wooster's Shannon Sertz.

Day two of the ITA Regional Tournament takes place on Saturday in Ohio.
