Belles Fall to Battling Bishops

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Saint Mary's tennis team suffered a 6-3 setback against Ohio Wesleyan on Friday night at Butler University.

Lilly Chamberlin and Maddie Minaudo prevailed in a tiebreaker at the two doubles flight for the Belles in a 9-8 (8-1) final. Kelsey Kopf and Elizabeth Preister were edged out narrowly in an 8-6 final at three doubles. Megan Davy and Monica Davy shouldered an 8-4 loss at the one doubles flight.

Chamberlin went on to out-duel her counterpart in a 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) win at five singles. Preister earned the third win for the Belles with a 6-3, 7-5 decision at six singles. Minaudo had a battle at four singles and came up by the narrowest of margins in a 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-2) final. Kelsey Kopf fell in a 6-2, 6-1 final at three singles, and Monica Davy had a 6-1, 6-2 setback at one singles. Megan Davy came up on the short end of a 6-2, 6-0 final at two singles.

The Belles (9-5) are scheduled to host Albion on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. An indoor site may be set on Saturday due to extended rain in the forecast. If the site moves indoors, the start time will move up to approximately 11:15 a.m.
