Belles Defeat Allegheny, Drop Match to Mount St. Joseph

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Saint Mary's volleyball team split their final two matches of the Mount Union Invitational on Saturday. The Belles defeated Allegheny in a thriller 25-18, 23-25, 27-29, 25-16, 15-10 before dropping a tough four-set match to Mount St. Joseph 25-21, 17-25, 25-12, 25-23.

In the five-set win, Stephanie Bodien had a big match for the Belles with 23 kills and 19 digs. Kati Schneider added 15 kills, 19 digs, and four blocks in the victory. Meghann Rose, meanwhile, had 32 digs and a pair of aces. Danie Brink paced the offense with 47 assists and had three kills and four aces.

Against Mount St. Joseph, Kati Schneider continued to make an immediate impact on the team with 11 kills, eight digs, and two aces. Christi Wyble tallied five kills and three blocks. Meredith Mersits chipped in 11 digs while Danie Brink had 21 assists in the tough loss.

The Belles (1-3) will open up their conference schedule on Tuesday, September 6 at Kalamazoo beginning at 7:00 p.m. against the Hornets.
