Box Score

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team had their hands full on Saturday as they took on nationally-ranked Hope in their final home match of the season. The #15 ranked Flying Dutch showed why they are among the top teams in the country with a 3-0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-10) sweep of the Belles.

In the first set, Hope took a big lead with twelve consecutive points and never looked back in the 25-7 opener. The Flying Dutch used a run of six points in the second set to turn a one-point lead at 4-3 into a seven-point advantage at 10-3. That would be as close as Saint Mary's would get in the second set as Hope took the frame 25-13. The offense took time to get going in the third set for the Belles as Hope rattled off the first five points. Saint Mary's battled back to within a point at 6-5 on a pair of service aces by Meghann Rose and a Hope miscue. The Flying Dutch, however, took eight of the next nine points to go up 14-6 before taking the set 25-10.

Kati Schneider led the offense for the Belles with seven kills on the afternoon. Meghann Rose had seven digs and a pair of aces, and Danie Brink chipped in 13 assists for Saint Mary's.

The Belles (7-16, 5-9 MIAA) will travel to Adrian on Wednesday, September 26 for a 7:00 p.m. match against the Bulldogs.
