Belles Drop Pair at UW-Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses in the first day of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh's Invitational on Friday night.

In the opening match of the tournament, Saint Mary's fell to host UW-Oshkosh 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-10) before dropping a heartbreaking five-set affair to UW-La Crosse 3-2 (25-22, 25-23, 10-25, 11-25, 15-9).

Against UW-Oshkosh, Allison Zandarski had a team-best eight kills and added an ace. Stephanie Bodien and Kati Schneider each added seven kills. Christi Wyble hit .333 with six kills and one error on 15 swings while tallying three block assists and a solo block. Meghann Rose notched a team-best 15 digs while Danie Brink was credited with 26 assists.

In the five-set contest against UW-La Crosse, Zandarski continued her strong day with 13 kills on just 20 attempts, a dig, a solo block, and a block assist. Bodien and Schneider again matched kill efforts in the match with nine. Brooke Fowler came into the match in the second set and played in each of the four final sets while adding six kills. Rose had a team-high 22 digs while Brink added 43 assists. Wyble again was a force to be reckoned with at the net as the sophomore had a solo block and three more block assists.

The Belles will take on Gustavus Adolphus at 11:00 a.m. CST before squaring off against Central (Iowa) at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.
