Belles Fall to Mount Union, Geneva

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Saint Mary's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses to open the 2011 season at the Mount Union Invitational on Friday. The Belles dropped a 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 26-24) decision to the host Purple Raiders in the opener before losing 3-1 (26-28, 25-20, 25-17, 25-16) to Geneva.

Against Mount Union, the Belles were led by freshman Kati Schneider's 10 kills and nine digs. In the nightcap, Schneider added 13 more kills and 15 digs. Stephanie Bodien had nine kills of her own to go along with 18 digs in the hard-fought loss. Danie Brink helped pace the offense with 32 assists with a pair of kills and four digs.

Meghann Rose was strong on defense with 21 digs while Annie Bodien chipped in 14 digs for the Belles.

Saint Mary's (0-2) will take on Allegheny at 10 a.m. before squaring off against Mount St. Joseph at 2 p.m. in the second and final day of the Mount Union Invitational.
