Belles Battle Past Brits

ALBION, Mich. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team battled past MIAA foe Albion in four sets, taking a 25-19, 24-26, 25-15, 25-20 win over the host Brits.

In the first set win which set the tone for the day, the Belles hit .433 with 16 kills and just three errors on 30 attempts. For the match, the Belles posted 49 kills to the Brits' 33 while also holding a 69-59 advantage in digs.

Kati Schneider led all players with 14 kills while also adding 11 digs and a pair of aces. Including Schneider, five players for Saint Mary's had at least 10 digs in the win. Samantha Grady and Katie Hecklinski shared team-high honors with 12 digs for the Belles. Melanie Kuczek chipped in 13 kills with seven digs and three block assists. Meredith Mersits tallied four aces and 10 digs. Danie Brink notched 35 assists, three aces, and 10 digs on the day.

The Belles (5-1, 1-1 MIAA) will have their home opener this Wednesday, September 12 when they host Adrian for a 7:00 p.m. MIAA contest.
