Belles Split Results at Albion
ALBION, Mich. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team earned a 3-1, (18-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-16) win over Albion before falling in four sets against Franklin (31-29, 16-25, 25-18, 25-19).
In the conference match against the Brits, Kati Schneider had 21 kills and 17 digs while Katie Hecklinski posted 16 kills and 16 digs. Melanie Kuczek added 11 kills with just two errors on 21 attempts for a .429 attack percentage. For the second match in-a-row, Clare McMillan registered 49 assists. Meredith Mersits played up 15 digs in the win.
Against Franklin, the Belles posted more kills, assists, digs, and blocks, but the Grizzlies were able to prevail for the win. Meaghan Gibbons led the Belles with 14 kills while hitting .400 in the match. Hecklinski and Schneider each picked up double-doubles yet again. Hecklinski had 12 kills and 13 digs, and Schneider tallied 11 kills and 17 digs. Kuczek hit .400 with 11 kills and two errors on 20 attempts. Meredith Mersits chipped in 18 digs, and Samantha Grady had 12 digs for Saint Mary's.
The Belles (7-11, 5-5 MIAA) return home to host Alma for an MIAA match beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9.
