ALMA, Mich. - The Saint Mary's volleyball picked up their second MIAA win in as many days with a 3-1 (25-21, 16-25, 25-22, 26-24) win at Alma on Saturday.

The Belles broke an early 3-3 tie in the first set with a three-point spurt to take a 6-3 lead. After extending that lead to 8-4, Saint Mary's never looked back and never led by fewer than two points on their way to the 25-21 set one win.

In the second set, the Scots used a seven-point run to turn a 12-10 advantage into a 19-10 lead. Alma took the second set by a 25-16 score to square the match at one set apiece.

The Scots appeared to be poised to take a 2-1 lead in the third as Alma established a 19-11 lead. That is when the Belles went on a tear to come back and take the momentum by force. Saint Mary's won 12 of the next 13 points to battle their way to a 23-20 advantage. After back-to-back points by Alma, the Belles responded with the next to points to take the set and the 2-1 overall lead in the match.

The Belles played the comeback role in the fourth set as well. Alma went up 7-3 early, but Saint Mary's edged their way back to tie the game at 13-13. After ties at 14-14, 15-15, and 16-16, the Belles used a spurt to take a 20-16 lead. The Scots tied the set at 23-all before going up set-point. Again, Saint Mary's came back with three-straight points for the 26-24 win of the set to clinch the conference win in four sets.

Kati Schneider and Katie Hecklinski both notched double-doubles on the day. Schneider had a match-high 16 kills to go along with 10 digs. Hecklinski added 11 kills and shared match-best honors with 17 digs. Meredith Mersits also chipped in 17 digs and four service aces.

The Belles (3-4, 2-1 MIAA) are on the road again next week as they travel to Olivet for an MIAA match against the Comets on Wednesday, September 11 at 7:00 p.m.
