Hecklinski Named MIAA Co-Player of the Week

FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary’s outside hitter Katie Hecklinski, Calvin outside hitter Maggie Kamp, and Hope setter Lauren Hazekamp earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Volleyball Player of the Week Awards on Monday for matches through Sept. 27.

Katie jumping up to serveHecklinski, a senior from South Bend, Ind. (St. Joseph HS), shared Player of the Week honors with Kamp. She helped the Belles complete a 2-1 week. Hecklinski terminated 42 balls to average 4.2 kills per set and hit .317 for the week. She recorded a match high percentage of .458 in a 3-0 win against Kalamazoo. In a 3-1 setback to No. 14 Hope, Hecklinski led both teams with 18 kills and hit .304. She finished the week by notching her seventh double-double showing of the season against Olivet with 12 kills and 10 digs.

It is the first time this season and second time in her career she has been recognized as the MIAA Position Player of the Week.
