NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team took a decisive 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-9) win over Kalamazoo on Tuesday evening.

With the first set tied at 12-12, the Hornets posted three quick points to gain a 15-12 advantage. The Belles responded right back with a big 8-0 run to shift the momentum and give Saint Mary's a 20-15 lead. Kalamazoo broke up the run with a kill, but the Belles kept the offense going and added four more points to close out the opening set 25-16.

Kalamazoo claimed a 5-2 lead early in the second set, but Saint Mary's used a 6-0 spurt to pull ahead 8-5. The score remained tight, and the Hornets put consecutive points on the scoreboard a short while later to keep within striking distance at 12-10. Three points in-a-row by the Belles helped jump-start a stretch which saw Saint Mary's balloon the lead to 20-11. Kalamazoo continued to fight and cut the deficit to five points at 21-16, but an attack error followed by an ace by Meaghan Gibbons and a kill by Rachel Bonek gave the Belles the 25-16 win in the second set.

Saint Mary's stormed out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back in a 25-9 third set win. The Belles did not allow more than two consecutive points to the Hornets over any given stretch in the set while Kalamazoo was limited to a -.034 attack percentage. Saint Mary's, meanwhile, put up a .423 attack percentage in the set with 12 kills and one error on 26 attempts for their most lopsided set win of the season.
