Judd Leighton Speech and Language Clinic

The Judd Leighton Speech and Language Clinic at Saint Mary’s College is a free speech-language pathology clinic that provides services to children and adults with communication disorders. Services are provided by student clinicians under the supervision of an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certified speech-language pathologist (SLP) licensed in the state of Indiana.

The clinic is designed to serve members of the community while also providing a comprehensive educational experience for Saint Mary’s College students in both the undergraduate Speech-Language Pathology program and the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program.

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology is committed to serving our community and works diligently to offer appointments to individuals on the waitlist each semester. As part of their training, students must complete a required number of clinical hours across various areas of speech-language pathology to earn their degree. Due to the nature of our program, we are unable to provide an estimated wait time.

Voice and Swallow Lab

In our Voice and Swallow Lab, certified and licensed SLP faculty provide free voice and swallowing assessments and treatment. Graduate students in the SLP program observe faculty as they conduct examinations using endoscopic equipment. Through this experience, students learn proper infection control procedures and how to safely insert the scope through the nasal cavity to visualize the larynx.

Please note: a doctor's order is required for a voice and/or swallowing assessment.
