Elizabeth (Liz) Brueseke, MSW, LCSW, is the Director of Field Education in for the Master of Social Work Program. Liz comes to Saint Mary's College after 17 years of direct care social work including community mental health, private practice, and school social work. Liz continues to work at a private practice in the community, to keep her social work skills sharp and relevant as she shares and works with students. Liz is an associate board member for The LGBTQ Center in South Bend, and is an ally to those in the community. Liz also has an interest in how trauma affects the brain and treatment of trauma and trauma symptoms, and how adoption affects families, both the adoptee and adoptive family. Liz is trained in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), TF-CBT (Truama Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), MI (Motivational Interviewing),  and is a certified Tech Addiction therapist. When Liz is not at Saint Mary's or seeing clients she likes to spend time with her family, especially watching her children in sports and music activities, knitting, and reading.

Professional Experience 

Liz holds a Licensed Clinical Social Worker license from the state of Indiana. She is currently a therapist at Cornerstone Family Therapy. Prior to coming to Saint Mary's, Liz was the social worker at Coquillard Elementary School. Prior to that, she was a therapist at National Youth Advocate Program for one year. Liz worked for Lifeline Youth and Family Services and held a variety of jobs with the organization including: regional supervisor, therapist, staff coach and family consultant. Liz started her social work journey as a supervisor of volunteers with the CASA Office of Saint Joseph County.
