"Saint Mary’s challenges me academically and pushes me to be great."

For Jessica Hudson ’22, the goal to attend an all women’s higher education institution helped to seal her final college decision. Understanding the significance of women empowerment within the Saint Mary’s community allowed Jesscia to boost her confidence within herself. The opportunity to surround herself with professional women working toward the same goal, especially in the STEM field, helped to ensure her journey at Saint Mary’s.

Figuring Out Her Future

As a strong student in the psychology department, Jessica strives to continue learning, and her formal education, after graduation. “My dream would be to attend medical school,” she said. However, Jessica has also explored the idea of entering graduate school or a post-baccalaureate program to increase her ability to attend medical school in the future.

“I want to further my studies in psychology with graduate school, but different graduate schools I want to attend require certain medical school tracks. I am really interested in the medical track program at Northwestern University,” she said.

The Milestone of the Ring

Every woman who attends Saint Mary’s looks forward to her ring consultation because it means she is almost to the finish line. Jessica cherishes the meaning behind her ring and how it has motivated her to continue working toward her goals and overcoming academic obstacles.

“For me, the ring symbolizes that I made it. I put in all this work and effort to graduate. Besides a diploma, the ring is something physical that I can see every day that reminds me of my college success,” she said.

To Jessica, the ring is far more than a piece of jewelry, it represents all of the experiences at Saint Mary’s that have helped shape the scholar she is today.
