Earn Your Master of Science (M.S.) in Speech Language Pathology

Whether you are a current undergraduate student studying communicative disorders or a recent graduate, our speech language pathology master’s degree will help you raise your knowledge and skill level to do great things for individuals with communication disorders. Working with clients of all ages, you will learn to assess, treat, and understand individuals whose communication skills are affected by stroke, traumatic brain injury, developmental delay, autism, Down syndrome, or other factors. Through small class sizes and a tight-knit community, you’ll receive the personal instruction you need to pursue your interests, develop research opportunities, and work closely with a mentor who understands your goals and wants to see you exceed beyond what you thought possible.

Our program will prepare you to go immediately into the workforce or further your study in a doctoral program.

At least one course in the behavioral sciences, e.g., Developmental Psychology
At least one course in the biological sciences, e.g., Introduction to Biology
At least one course in the physical sciences, e.g., Introduction to Physics, Acoustics, etc.

Highly Recommended but Not Required Courses

  • Clinical Methods and Supervised Observation

For those still in school:

Application Requirements

  • All applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, or related field, from a regionally accredited college or university, or the international equivalent. Candidates are normally expected to have maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in undergraduate coursework.
  • Submission of a completed CSDCAS application
  • Official transcripts from every college or university attended (mailed to CSDCAS)
  • Three letters of recommendation from people familiar with the applicant’s academic and/or professional abilities, focusing particularly on the potential for success
  • Personal statement that addresses reasons for pursuing an advanced degree in speech language pathology, professional objectives, and how Saint Mary’s aligns with personal and professional goals

Applications for the fall term will open in September. Saint Mary’s College uses the Communication Science and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS) application system.  You must complete the application form, submit the application fee, and provide all supporting documents through the CSDCAS application system.  The Speech Language Pathology program has a rolling admissions process.
