November 4, 2012 (Notre Dame, Ind.)—Moreau Center for the Arts will be open for classes and business on Monday, November 5, after a small fire in a basement storage room early Saturday, November 3. No one was hurt and firefighters are investigating the cause. The fire alarm went off at 12:55 a.m. and Saint Mary’s College Security used fire extinguishers to keep the fire from spreading. Within a few minutes crews from the University of Notre Dame Fire Department, the South Bend Fire Department, and Clay Fire Territory responded, which is standard procedure. The fire was contained quickly, but firefighters remained at the scene for a couple of hours to clear the area of smoke.

The fire will not affect next weekend's production of the musical “The Secret Garden.” The musical will be performed Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10 in O’Laughlin Auditorium.
