Background: Habitat is a grass-roots ministry with the goal of ending poverty housing. The local chapter of Habitat builds or repairs homes for low-income families in the South Bend community. Prospective participants must meet other requirements set by Habitat for Humanity, including "sweat equity" participation and minimum income, and be currently living in sub-standard or unsafe conditions. This is for people in need of a place to live and is not about charity. Those individuals who will live in the home also help to build them.

Volunteers: Volunteers are needed to assist the project in many ways, by working on construction crews, donating materials, or providing meals for the work groups.
