Gifts to the Saint Mary’s Fund Empower Tomorrow’s Leaders It's not hard to make a list of things to love about Saint Mary's—lifelong friendships, challenging classes, spiritual growth, favorite professors, The Avenue. These are essential pieces of the Saint Mary’s experience, and they are here to stay thanks to the Saint Mary’s Fund, which remains a top priority for the College. Crossroads Rumble: The Saint Mary’s STUNT Tournament Save the date for February 15 and 16 as Saint Mary’s College hosts its first-ever STUNT competition in the Angela Athletic & Wellness Complex. The tournament will feature 10 teams and approximately 180 student-athletes from Divisions II, III, and Division I clubs across the Great Lakes region. Students Spend Winter Break at Bio Conference This week, four students presented their research to some of the brightest minds in the biology field. Traveling to Atlanta, the students took part in the 2025 Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB) annual meeting. Workshops Highlight Library Resources The You Belong in the Library program is a grant-funded initiative by the college to bring students, particularly first-generation students, into the library early in their college careers to learn what the library offers. Speech-Language Pathology Program Prepares Students to Make an Impact Ruby Meza ’25, a first-generation student double majoring in Speech-Language Pathology and Spanish, came to Saint Mary’s because of the supportive community and the program's opportunities. Meza’s interest in the bachelor's to master's program drew her to the College, as did the opportunities to conduct research with professors and participate in pre-professional Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology clubs. Now, Meza works in Corso’s lab to assist in smart home technology for individuals with physical limitations. Gratefulness + Thanksgiving = Gratitude In this Thanksgiving week, President Conboy reflects on the ways in which gratitude, gratefulness, and thanksgiving converge in her work at Saint Mary's College. A Legacy of Opportunity for Saint Mary’s Students Saint Mary’s had a transformational impact on Gretchen Flicker, Class of 1993. As she moved through her career in investment management, she stayed deeply connected to her alma mater. Today, her commitment includes a financial gift to ensure future generations of women can have the same opportunity she had. Exploring Loss, Memory, and Constructed Narratives Ian Weaver, an associate professor of art at Saint Mary’s College, is a nationally exhibited artist whose work has appeared at venues like the Saint Louis Art Museum, The Chicago Cultural Center, and Fort Worth Contemporary Arts. Weaver’s numerous residencies include the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, Ox-Bow, and the International Studio and Curatorial Program in New York. Among his many accolades are the DeHaan Artists of Distinction Award and the Stone and DeGuire Contemporary Art Award. In this reflection, Weaver discusses his latest project, an installation set for display at the Chicago Athletic Association in 2026.
