Students Facilitate National Letter-Writing Campaign to Pope (Observer...
Pope Francis asked, and Saint Mary’s delivered — literally. Last fall, 10 Saint Mary’s students, the Office of Campus Ministry, and the Center for Spirituality came together to discuss ways in which the Catholic Church could better reach young women around the world. Together, the group came to one conclusion: write to Pope Francis. Who could have predicted that a year later, a Saint Mary's College student and the president would be personally delivering Pope Francis a 5" binder the letters and art from Catholic young women from all over the U.S. The student newspaper, the Observer, has this in-depth story.

Students Conduct Oral History Project with Sisters (South Bend Tribune...
Professor Marne Austin had a unique assignment for students in her Into to Communication Studies course: an oral history project where students were paired with Sisters of the Holy Cross. It was an opportunity for students to hone their interview and listening skills as communicators, while getting to know members of a subculture on campus. It was also a chance to become better familiar with the congregation that founded and still sponsors the College.
