Students host "One Day without Shoes" event (ABC-57)
With the high temperature in South Bend just 40 degrees Tuesday, it was a cold day to go without shoes on campus. But organizers of “One Day without Shoes” at Saint Mary's College say that just helps make their point. “One Day without Shoes” is a worldwide effort to spread awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life by taking off our own. Millions of children live without proper footwear, exposing them to injury and disease every day. Senior Hannah Hupp was interviewed.

Belles Take Opener, Comeback Falls Short in Nightcap Against Wheaton
WHEATON, Ill. - With both teams entering the day with just one loss apiece, the Saint Mary's softball team and Wheaton split their doubleheader on Tuesday. The Belles claimed a 3-2 win in the opener and saw their bid at a comeback fall just short by falling 5-4 in game two.

Students Put on Prom Night for Cancer Patients & Survivors (Fox 28)
Saint Mary's College students hosted a prom night on campus Friday. The party honored cancer survivors and current cancer patients, many of whom have missed big events in their lives, like prom, due to treatment. The event was sponsored by the student club Stand Up To Cancer.

Economist Interviewed on Unemployment Numbers (WNDU-TV)
The national unemployment rate rose to 8.2 percent in May. The latest report marks the first increase in eleven months. Plus, the number of jobs created last month was much lower than predicted. According to Richard Measell, assistant professor of economics, multiple factors are weighing down the economy.

Belles Open Season with Two Wins
CHICAGO, Ill. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team opened up the 2012 season with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-20, 25-22) victory over IU Northwest and a 3-1 (26-24, 24-26, 25-20, 26-24) win against Howard Payne at the North Park Classic on Friday evening.
