Belles Take Two Wins at Illinois College Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team claimed a pair of wins on day one of the Illinois College Tournament II on Friday.

The first match of the day saw the Belles take a 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-14) victory against Lincoln Christian. Nicole Lukens led the team with 11 kills while picking up seven digs. Marielle Corbett posted 10 kills and 11 digs, and Rachel Bonek put down nine kills. Audrey Shannon paced Saint Mary's with 20 digs while Morgan VanderWey tallied 34 assists. Alyssa Chong hit .400 with five kills and led the Belles with six blocks.

Saint Mary's then went on to defeat Franklin, 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20). Lukens was nearly unstoppable as she hammered down 23 kills with a .583 attack percentage while also putting up 23 digs. Shannon had 17 digs, and Corbett notched nine kills and 14 digs with two service aces. VanderWey registered 37 assists as the Belles had a collective .376 attack percentage against the Grizzlies.

The Belles (4-4) take on Concordia-Chicago and host Illinois College on day two of the Lady Blues' tournament.
