Department of Intercultural Studies
We are all part of an increasingly multicultural world. Intercultural Studies offers you a challenging program of courses on the theme of intercultural contact and inter-group dynamics. We help students understand the shifting boundaries of culture, nation, race, ethnicity, and institutional structures that shape contemporary social life. Intercultural Studies complements work within any major area of study and is relevant to all professional interests.
We foster an academic community in which challenging and important questions can be asked. The program allows students to discuss their ideas and concerns with fellow students from different cultural backgrounds and academic disciplines who share an interest in learning about issues of race, cultural difference, and ethnic identity.
We offer a minor and an Intercultural Studies concentration in the Global Studies Major.
Students graduating with the minor have gone on to many diverse careers in law, professional, and doctoral programs; careers with domestic and international non-profit organizations; teaching, and business.
