Identify Your Key Selling Points

  • Know your objective (who you are and what your goal is)
  • Summarize your experience (think: why would an employer be interested in you?)
  • Identify your achievements (particularly those most related to the position/employer)

Pre-Plan

  • Why am I writing this letter?
  • Have I researched the employer and the position? (if not, do it--your letter should be employer specific)
  • Do I have a contact name? (if not, try to find one!)
