Graduate Recognized with Lumen Christi Award, Highest Student Honor Galicia Guerrero ’14 of Jenison, Michigan was honored with the Lumen Christi Award at Saint Mary’s Commencement on Saturday, May 17. The Lumen Christi is the highest student honor at Saint Mary’s College. It is awarded to the senior who stands out as an outstanding Christian woman. The recipient is traditionally someone who has excelled in leadership and loyalty to Saint Mary’s and whose presence has had a profound effect on the College community. 2014 Alumnae Association Award Recipients Announced Saint Mary’s College is pleased to announce the recipients of the annual awards given by the Alumnae Association of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. The Girl Scouts release a study every year on the well being of girls across the country. Indiana didn't do very well, ranking 36 of 50. The findings for Indiana were similar to those revealed by the Status of Girls in Indiana (SGI) report released by Saint Mary's College last fall. Two professors, Marne Austin and Kristin Kuter, working on the next SGI report were interviewed by Fox 28 about challenges that Hoosier girls face. Jill Moore Clouse ’99 Receives 2014 Outstanding Young Alumna Award The Outstanding Young Alumna Award, awarded annually by the Alumnae Association of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, honors an alumna who exhibits leadership not only in her personal and professional accomplishments, but also in her involvement with the Alumnae Association and/or the College. The 2014 recipient is Jill Moore Clouse ’99, of Glen Ellyn, IL. World Cinema Festival, Feb. 3-7 The Saint Mary’s College Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership (CWIL) will host the World Cinema Festival, Monday, Feb. 3 through Friday, Feb. 7. This annual event, which is free and open to the public, will feature five films in the original language with English subtitles over the course of five nights. Each will be shown at 7 p.m. in the Vander Vennet Theatre on the ground level of the Student Center. Mary Acker Klingenberger ’79 Receives 2014 Alumna Achievement Award The Alumna Achievement Award, awarded annually by the Alumnae Association of Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN honors an alumna of the Catholic women’s college who is outstanding in her personal and professional accomplishments and is a recognized leader in her field of endeavor. The honoree exemplifies the standards, ideals, and mission of the College in its commitment to the value of a Christian liberal arts education. This year’s recipient is Mary Acker Klingenberger ’79. Klingenberger, of Hinsdale, IL. College Hosts International Women Again for State Department Institute Saint Mary’s College is proud to hold its third Global Women Leaders Institute, a U.S. Department of State “Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI)” from June 28 to August 1. This summer’s SUSI welcomes 20 undergraduate women from Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Iraq, and Jordan, plus four Saint Mary’s students. This four-week academic residency program and week of educational travel is part of a broader State Department initiative designed to promote a better understanding of the U.S. abroad and to help develop future world leaders. “Henry V” Performed By An All-Female Cast The Saint Mary’s College Theatre Program is proud to announce Henry V as the 2013 spring production. Performances will take place in Little Theatre, Moreau Center for the Arts, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Apr. 3 through Saturday, Apr. 5 and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6.
