Political Science Professor on GOP Race and Iowa Caucus (WSBT-AM)
The 2012 Iowa Caucus is January 3. With less than a month to go, Newt Gingrich is doing well in the polls and leading the GOP presidential race. Candidate Mitt Romney is not to be discounted though. The Iowa Caucus is historically the first in the nation, to be followed a week later by the New Hampshire Primary. Political science professor Sean Savage has analysis of the candidates.

Students Host 'Winter Wonderland' for Kids (South Bend Tribune photos)
On Saturday the Saint Mary’s College’s Student Activities Board (SAB) hosted its second annual Winter Wonderland party for area children. SAB, which is made up of various student clubs, invited children ages 5-12 from South Bend’s Center for the Homeless, Hope Ministries, and Coquillard Primary Center, a Title 1 school with which the College partners. Children of Saint Mary’s College faculty and staff were also invited. The South Bend Tribune posted a photo gallery from the event.

U.S.News & World Report ranks Saint Mary's College among the “Best National Liberal Arts Colleges.” Saint Mary's comes in at 90, up from 93 last year. considering higher education opportunities.

Alumna and Students to Receive Accounting Awards

Saint Mary’s among the “Best in the Midwest,” Again
Saint Mary's College is one of the best colleges and universities in the Midwest according to The Princeton Review. The education services company widely known for its test preparation programs and college and graduate school guides selected the school as one of 153 institutions listed in the “Best in the Midwest” section of its Web site feature "2012 Best Colleges: Region by Region," posted August 1.

Interview about Christmas Craft Show (WNDU-TV)
The fifth annual Christmas Craft Show is this Friday, December 9 from noon until 6 p.m. in Le Mans Hall. The show, hosted by the College's Office for Civic and Social Engagement, raises funds for OCSE’s 12 Days of Christmas program, a campus-wide effort that provides holiday gifts and necessities to area families and individuals in need. Carrie Call, OCSE's director, is interviewed on Newscenter 16's morning news about the show.

Belles Fall to Mount Union, Geneva
ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Saint Mary's volleyball team suffered a pair of losses to open the 2011 season at the Mount Union Invitational on Friday. The Belles dropped a 3-0 decision to the host Purple Raiders in the opener before losing 3-1 to Geneva.

Belles Fall Twice at UW-Oshkosh, Brink Named All-Tournament
The Saint Mary's volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-20) to Gustavus Adolphus in their first set of the day before being defeated by Central (Iowa) 3-1 (25-16, 25-27, 25-13, 25-18) in the second day of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Invitational on Saturday.

Belles Blank Yellow Jackets
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Saint Mary's soccer team opened up the 2011 season with a 4-0 victory over Defiance College on Friday afternoon.
