John Rush
Owner of the land that became the site of Saint Mary's College.
His Story
Father Sorin purchased 185 acres from Mr. Rush in 1855 for $8,000. The land would become the new home for the Sisters and the Academy. Later that year the Academy moved from Bertrand, MI to its new home in Indiana where it would continue to grow.
