Broaden your perspective
You can accomplish your dreams of becoming a nurse, and broaden your perspective by traveling to other parts of the world. The rigors of nursing school often don’t allow students to study abroad, but at Saint Mary’s, the nursing department makes it possible for students to study abroad in the fall semester of their sophomore year. Students may choose any of our programs, but our Cyprus and Puerto Rico programs specifically meet the needs of nursing students by offering Microbiology and Pathophysiology in the fall of sophomore year to allow nursing students to stay on track to graduate on time without having to take an extra summer of classes.
If a traditional semester program isn’t the best fit for you, there are many summer options including nursing specific programs: Students can gain hands-on experience in a health care clinic run by the Sisters of the Holy Cross in Uganda or study Community Health Nursing in New Zealand. One of our nursing faculty is also offering a Gender and Women’s Studies course in which students visit the Sisters of the Holy Cross for a week in Brazil.
