Earn Your Master of Science in Nursing in Two Years and Become an RN
All applicants must have completed a bachelor’s degree in any major other than nursing from an accredited college or university prior to beginning the program.
Official transcripts are required from every college or university attended. Current Saint Mary's students will have an official transcript requested from the Registrar's office on their behalf by the Graduate Admission team.
The most competitive candidates will have maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA in undergraduate coursework and a 3.0 GPA in science prerequisite courses.
Applicants must have completed the following prerequisite courses within the last 7 years and prior to beginning the graduate program:
- Anatomy/Physiology 1 & 2 with labs (course needs to be taken in-person) – 8 hours
- Chemistry – 3 hours
- Microbiology with lab (course needs to be taken in-person) – 4 hours
- Statistics (100 level or higher) – 3 hours
- Introductory psychology or sociology course
- Lifespan course (recommended but not required)
Applicants are asked to provide three letters of recommendation from individuals who have worked with them in academic and/or professional settings. At least one reference must be from a current or former faculty member.
Applicants are asked to submit a resume that includes education and any post-baccalaureate professional work experience, licensures and certifications, and other relevant professional experiences and involvement.
Applicants are asked to submit a personal statement addressing their reasons for pursuing a career pivot into the nursing profession, and how Saint Mary’s aligns with their personal and professional goals.
Applicants for whom English is a second language must submit official TOEFL (80+), IELTS (6.5+), or Duolingo (105+) scores, unless the undergraduate degree was earned at an institution where English was the primary language of instruction.
