About Emily
Hello! My name is Emily Dicks, and I'm an Assistant Director of Admission and the Chicago Regional Representative for Saint Mary's College. I am an Illinoisan/Chicagoan through and through, but there really is something special about the tri-campus community of Notre Dame, IN. I am a proud SMC alumna, class of 2018; I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with a concentration in International Higher Education Administration and a minor in Music. During my time as a student, I was active in not only the Saint Mary's concert band, but also several ensembles at Notre Dame, including the marching band, hockey band, saxophone choir, and the BandLink program.
I, like many other Saint Mary's students, wasn't completely sold on a Catholic, liberal arts, all-women's college in Indiana initially; it was my mom's idea for me to visit and apply. But once we had driven down The Avenue and I had a chance to walk the beautiful campus and learn more about the seemingly endless opportunities I'd have, it was a no-brainer! I can honestly say my years at Saint Mary's were the most formative years of my adult life that really gave me the boost to become the woman I am today, and to continue to grow and learn indefinitely. I am incredibly excited to have this chance to share my love for Saint Mary's with you and your family and to provide any information you may need along the way regarding the college admission process!

Current music you're listening to:
I'm a huge Panic! at the Disco fan, but I also enjoy listening to Fall Out Boy, Sara Bareilles, Shinedown, and musical soundtracks. My favorite musical is Les Miserables!
Favorite way to relax:
After a long day, I like to decompress by hanging out with my cats, Babes and Blake. I also enjoy taking walks around my neighborhood playing Pokemon Go and finding new restaurants to try with my fiance and doing face masks with him.
Your dream vacation:
I LOVE travelling and was fortunate enough to have a semester abroad in Seville, Spain during my time at SMC. My dream vacation would probably be a month-long European tour, revisiting Seville, Rome, and maybe the Netherlands, but also going to some places I haven't made it to yet such as Toledo (Spain), France, Germany, Austria, Florence (Italy), and Ireland.
A TV show you just can't miss:
I don't watch a whole lot of "regular tv", but in terms of what I stream, I love Stranger Things, Masterchef, and My Hero Academia.
Your favorite thing about South Bend:
I love seeing shows and performances at The Morris Center downtown as well as exploring new restaurants. Also, you can never go wrong with a Football Saturday on campus.
Your favorite thing about Saint Mary's:
Everyone is rooting for you and wants to see you succeed! Your professors, your friends, and even that one girl you always see in the dining hall but have never talked to wants the best for you. It is so great to be heard and seen by those around you and Saint Mary's makes sure that you're always feeling the love!

You can never ask too many questions! Take the time to really ponder what you want out of your college experience and ask all the questions you want to ensure you find the perfect fit for your undergraduate experience!
