January 1, 2014 Professors Committed to Community Theater (South Bend Tribune) Saint Mary's College professors Mark Abram-Copenhaver and Bill Svelmoe offer much of their free time to community theater. Abram-Copenhaver, associate professor of theatre, directs productions at the College and the South Bend Civic Theatre. He helped Svelmoe, professor of history, discover her had an unknown talent for acting. Svelmoe acts in plays on and off campus. They are an example of professors who go "Beyond the Campus" and make a difference in the community. January 1, 2014 “Pink Party Zumbathon” Hosted by Students' Stand Up to Cancer Club... Want to raise money for cancer research while getting in a workout? The Saint Mary’s College student club SMC Stands Up to Cancer will host its 3rd annual “Pink Party Zumbathon” on Saturday, November 1 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Angela Athletic Facility and will feature more than 20 local Zumba instructors who will take turns teaching. The public is invited to take part. Those attending are encouraged to wear pink and dance for this great cause. January 1, 2014 Board of Trustees Announces the Extension of President Carol Ann Moone... The Saint Mary’s College Board of Trustees has extended the contract of President Carol Ann Mooney to May 2016, with the possibility of further extension. Board Chair Mary L. Burke ’85 made the announcement today via an email to students, faculty, staff, and advisory councils. The original contract was set to expire in May 2014. Mooney recently signed the new contract. The news comes on the eve of the 8th anniversary of Mooney’s inauguration, which took place on January 15, 2005. January 1, 2014 “Everybody’s Hero: The Jackie Robinson Story” Coming Feb. 17 The Saint Mary’s College Office of Special Events is proud to present the Mad River Theater Works production of Everybody’s Hero: The Jackie Robinson Story. The musical, which is part of this year’s Shaheen/Duggan Performing Arts Series, will be presented on Monday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in O’Laughlin Auditorium.
