Marketing Professional on Amazon Drone Deliveries (Fox 28)
Could sky robots deliver your Cyber Monday purchases to you within 30 minutes? Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced his company plans to start offering 30-minute deliveries via drone-like "octocopters," perhaps as soon as 2015. Fox 28 asked Karen McDonald '76, assistant vice president of Integrated Marketing Communications at Saint Mary's, for her views on whether this delivery concept is viable. McDonald has more than 30 years of marketing and sales experience, working for companies like Kraft Foods.

Economics professor: Low gas prices=poor economy
10/4/11—Professor of economics Jerry McElroy was interviewed for a story about the cause of current low gas prices. "So goes the economy so goes the price of oil,” McElroy said in the story. “When the economy is booming, then the price of oil is rising – and vice versa, as we see today."

Indiana Private College Week, July 22-26, Encourages the Campus Visit
Summer is a favorite time for high school juniors and seniors to visit colleges they are interested in attending. Indiana Private College Week, from Monday, July 22, through Friday, July 26, offers high school students the opportunity to take a look at any of the state’s 31 private, non-profit colleges and universities, including Saint Mary’s College. The week is sponsored by Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI).

Prom for Cancer Patients/Survivors Coming up (WNDU-TV)
Devon Graham ’13, president of the Stand Up To Cancer Club, was interviewed on Saturday morning about the prom coming up this weekend. It’s a free event for local cancer patients and survivors of all ages on Saturday, March 2. Registration is required. The theme for the dance is “Don’t Stop Believin’: Dancing in Honor of Your Courage.” This is the second year for the prom. I included the press release in case you know someone who would be interested in attending.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Saint Mary’s freshman Jillian Busfield was named to the All-Region Third Team in the Central Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the 2013 season.

"Radium Girls" Paints a Tragic Picture (In the Bend)
Starting tonight, the theatre program will present Radium Girls as the 2013 fall production. Radium Girls, a play set in New Jersey the 1920s, is based on the true story of young factory workers who begin a campaign for justice after being sickened by radium-laced paint on the job. It is a fast-moving theatrical ensemble piece about greed, wealth, the environment, science, and courage.

Saint Mary’s College launched the first phase of its website redesign on Saturday, October 8. Most of the changes are to the home page, which displays new features and supporting content. Enhancements will be made throughout the site in the future.

Retreat and Composting Workshop: "Spirituality and Soil"
Join the Center for Spirituality and Campus Ministry at Saint Mary’s College for a workshop, "Spirituality and Soil," on Saturday, October 12. There will be morning prayer, theological reflection on our relationship to soil, instruction on composting kitchen scraps and fall leaves to build soil, Mass, and time for contemplation on the beautiful Saint Mary’s campus.

South Bend Chamber Singers' 25th Anniversary Dinner/Concert (RESERVATI...
The public is invited to a dinner and concert celebrating the South Bend Chamber Singers’ 25th anniversary. The event will take place at Saint Mary's College on Saturday, Oct. 26. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in the Student Center Lounge with cocktails and a champagne toast followed by dinner in the adjoining Noble Family Dining Hall.
