Dance Marathon Hosts Dinner for Riley Families (The Observer) On Friday night, it is everyone’s birthday at a special dinner hosted by Saint Mary’s College Dance Marathon in honor of the children and families of Riley Hospital for Children. The Dance Marathon raises funds throughout the year to help the hospital in efforts to save the lives of children. The fundraising will culminate with the Dance Marathon on March 23, 2013. Center for Spirituality Lecture: Vision, From the Life of Hildegard vo... The Center for Spirituality (CFS) at Saint Mary’s College is proud to announce its spring lecture series. One of the speakers is Margot Fassler, Ph.D., Keough-Hesburgh Professor of Music History and Liturgy University of Notre Dame. "Women in Baseball" Lecture: Justine Siegal The “Women in Baseball” exhibit includes a lecture entitled “Diamond Dreams—Girls and Women in Baseball” by Justine Siegal, founder of Baseball for All, a non-profit organization that advocates that both sexes be allowed to play ball. Siegal’s lecture will be held Wednesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. in the Vander Vennet Theatre, on the ground level of the Student Center. Saint Mary’s College Welcomes New College Editor Saint Mary’s College is pleased to announce Shannon Brewer Rooney ’03 as college editor in the Integrated Marketing Communications department, an office within the College Relations division. She started in her position last month. Among her duties is serving as the editor of Courier, the Saint Mary’s College alumnae magazine. The College welcomes Rooney back to Saint Mary’s as she served as the college writer in the Saint Mary’s marketing department from 2008 to 2010. She also earned her bachelor of arts in English Writing from Saint Mary’s. Faith and Humor Come Together in Writer's Life (South Bend Tribune) The South Bend Tribune interviews Tom Leopold, comedy writer for such shows as "Senifeld" and "Cheers," about the show he will perform Thursday night at Saint Mary's called "A Comedy Writer Finds God." In the show he will share stories of his career and his faith journey to Catholicism. The program will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Carroll Auditorium, Madeleva Hall. Leopold will be on campus with friend and comedy writing legend Bill Persky ("The Cosby Show" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show") to teach master classes on Wednesday and Thursday. Madrigal Dinners Offers a Renaissance Christmas (In the Bend) For the 40th-anniversary “Madrigal Dinners” at Saint Mary’s College, Nancy Menk looked to the past for inspiration — and not just to 500 years ago. The chair of the music department, Menk invited the college’s dance program to participate after a 20-year absence of dancers at the Renaissance-style dinners, which take place Friday through Sunday in Regina Hall. IN Employers Invited to Internship Fair, Registration Deadline Feb. 14 The Saint Mary's College Cross Currents Program invites Indiana companies and non-profits with internship opportunities to participate in an internship fair on campus next month. The Indiana Internship Expo for Saint Mary's students will be held on Tuesday, February 28 from 4-6 p.m. in the Student Center Lounge. Those companies and non-profits that would like to participate must register by Tuesday, February 14. Rachael Chesley '11, Fulbrighter, on Assimilating in Malaysia (Southto... Rachael Chesley '11, a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Malaysia, is a guest columnist for the Southtown Star, a south suburban Chicago newspaper published the Sun Times. She graduated with a business administration degree with concentrations in management and international business. While on campus, she served as the Saint Mary’s student body president from 2010-2011. Rachael was also an advocate for study abroad programs, participating in the Rome program and the Korea program.
