Samantha Grady, SMC '15
Hello! My name is Samantha Grady, and I was born and raised in Corrales, New Mexico. I am the fifth child of six siblings, and I enjoy every minute of having a large family. I long for the sunny, blue skies of the Southwest, but six years ago, I made the best decision of my life...to attend Saint Mary's College! each of my three sister attended Saint Mary's as well. It's very special to share a deep love and appreciation for my Saint Mary's education with my sisters. During my time at Saint Mary's, I played varsity volleyball and was involved in Campus Ministry. Since graduating from Saint Mary's, I earned a Master's Degree in Theological Studies from Loyola University Chicago. I'm so proud to rejoin the Saint Mary's community in a new way as an Admission Counselor!
Getting to Know Samantha
Current music in your iPod:
I always enjoy country music in the summertime, but right now I've been listening to a lot of Chainsmokers!
What superhero would you like to be and why?
I would like to be Wonder Woman. I dressed up as her for Halloween one year! Now, when things get stressful and overwhelming, I lighten the mood by thinking of her...she can do it all and get it done while wearing a cape and rocking big hair!
There's a restaurant in Chicago called Bandera. I'm obsessed with their skillet cornbread. That's what I want for my birthday cake this year.
Favorite historical figure, and why:
Karl Rahner. He's a 20th century systematic theologian who holds a positive theological anthropology. His work contributed greatly to my understanding of what it means to be human in light of the Incarnation.
Your favorite thing about South Bend:
My favorite thing about South bend is the strong sense of Holy Cross tradition and education. And the local breweries too!
Your favorite thing about Saint Mary's:
My favorite thing about Saint Mary's is its committment to discerning our responsibility and role in the world. Not many places encourage us to ask the big questions, but Saint Mary's keeps those at the center of our education.I also appreciate the college's investment in its students. At Saint Mary's, the students matter most.
