Saint Mary’s College started to wrap up its school year on Sunday with a day full of commencement events for seniors. Sonia Manzano, also known as "Maria" from Sesame Street, spoke at the sixth annual Multiethnic Commencement Celebration to honor the 51 multicultural members of the Class of 2013. Manzano related the challenges they have overcome to similar experiences in her own life. “But I think that the world they're going into is much more diverse and open about diversity. And the fact that they're going participate in society openly is going to make profound impact on the way we live and the way we see race relations."
