January 2, 2013 Accounting Professor Shares Tips for Taxes (WSBT-TV) John Cergnul, assistant professor of accounting, appeared on WSBT-TV's Saturday morning show with tips for tax season. He shared information on the Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s Tax Assistance Program, where students volunteer to help low-income residents with their tax returns. He also talked about the growing problem with identity theft and taxes, where people file fake returns with stolen Social Security numbers and pocket the money the IRS sends back. January 2, 2013 Halloween Magic Show to Demonstrate Science is a Treat It’s no trick. Learning about science is a treat! Saint Mary’s College chemistry students, dressed as mad scientists, will host a Halloween Magic Show for South Bend-area children on campus at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 30. The public is invited to attend and children are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes. Kids will get to do some hands-on experiments and then watch the college students conduct some on stage. The evening will end with kids making ice cream with the help of liquid nitrogen.
